Prospeo alternatives, sorted by why you are leaving

The cheapest paid floor in the directory, and credits that vanish at renewal. 4 replacements below, each one matched to a specific reason rather than ranked on a score nobody can audit.

Prices and limits for every option below are read off the vendor's own page. These are the Prospeo competitors that answer a named problem, not a field of logos.

The 3 reasons people actually leave

If none of these is your situation, the honest answer is that you should probably stay, and the Prospeo API review covers what you already have. The 26 providers these replacements are drawn from are in the Enrichment APIs listing.

1 · Credits are metered per user

Prospeo prices per user and allocates credits per user, so a three-person team on Starter buys three allowances rather than one pool of 6,000. For a single operator that is irrelevant. For a team where one person does most of the list building, you are buying capacity for people who will not spend it.

2 · Mobile costs 10 credits

Twice what LeadMagic charges for the same thing. At $0.245 a number against $0.099, a phone-first motion is materially more expensive here than it needs to be.

3 · Email and phone, and nothing else

No firmographics beyond the basics, no signal data, no sequencing. A deliberately narrow tool, which is a virtue until you want to consolidate.

In detail

The case for each one

Each one below is matched to a reason rather than scored, and each one names what you give up by taking it. A replacement with no downside is a replacement nobody has actually run.

LeadMagic

A dollar more a month at the entry tier, credits that bank for two months, and mobile at half the credit cost.

The reason this page exists is Prospeo credits expiring at renewal, and LeadMagic is the direct answer: credits bank for two months, so an uneven month is not a wasted one. At $99 for 5,000 credits it is $0.0198 each against Prospeo's $0.0245.

Mobile is the other gap. LeadMagic charges 5 credits for a number against Prospeo's rate, every operation has a published cost, and credits come off on valid results only. People, company and jobs search spend nothing at all from Essential upward.

An MCP server is bundled with every plan, and the limits are account-wide rather than per key: 5 requests a second on Professional, 10 on Ultimate.

What you give up

The free tier and the cheap entry. LeadMagic has no free allowance, so the first measurement costs $99 rather than nothing, and its floor is twice Prospeo's. For a team doing fewer than 2,000 lookups a month that is a real increase.

When it is the wrong answer

Low-volume users. Below about 2,000 lookups a month you are buying 5,000 credits to use 2,000, and Prospeo's expiry problem costs less than LeadMagic's floor.

Entry $99/mo. No free tier. Essential starts at $99 for 5,000 credits, and failed lookups cost nothing.. The clearest rate card in this directory. Read the review · Prospeo vs LeadMagic

Findymail

Also EMEA-strong, verifies at find time, rolls over to twice your allowance, and refunds credits above a 5% bounce rate.

Findymail answers the rollover complaint more generously than anyone: unused credits roll to twice your monthly allowance, and duplicates found in the last 30 days are not charged again. Against credits that vanish at renewal, that is the whole argument.

Verification happens at find time rather than as a separate step, so there is no second vendor and no second bill, and the 5% bounce guarantee is a commercial commitment nothing else here offers.

The trade is the entry price, $99 against Prospeo's $49, and the fields: a phone is 10 credits and mobiles are non-EU only.

What you give up

EU mobile numbers and half the entry price. Findymail does not sell EU mobiles at all, so a European calling motion is ruled out, and the floor is twice Prospeo's.

When it is the wrong answer

European phone enrichment, and any team under about 2,000 lookups a month for whom the floor matters more than the rollover.

Entry $99/mo. A free account with 10 credits and no card, which this directory counts as a trial rather than a free tier. Findymail verifies at the moment it finds, so you are not paying twice for the same address. Visit Findymail · Prospeo vs Findymail

Hunter

Same $49 for 2,000 credits, plus Domain Search and a 50-credit free tier. Better if you start from companies rather than from people.

Hunter matches Prospeo's entry exactly, $49 for 2,000 credits at $0.0245 each, so this is a swap on capability rather than price. What it adds is Domain Search, which returns every known address at a company, and that is a different question from enriching a named person.

The free tier is 50 credits a month indefinitely, and the documentation is the best in the category, which is why it is still the API most teams wire up first.

The ladder also rewards volume more than most: the per-credit rate halves from $0.0245 at Starter to $0.0120 at the $299 Scale tier, where Prospeo's stays nearer flat.

What you give up

European depth and mobile numbers. Hunter's dataset is the narrowest here and Prospeo is specifically strong in EMEA, which is usually the reason somebody chose it.

When it is the wrong answer

European contact enrichment at volume, and any motion that needs phone numbers. Hunter is a domain and email tool and the match rate on a European list will show it.

Entry $49/mo. Free plan, 50 credits per month. Hunter has been the default first API in this category for a decade, and the documentation shows it. Read the review · Prospeo vs Hunter

Apollo API

About a fifth cheaper per credit with sourcing and sequencing included, at the cost of a seat license.

Apollo is $0.0196 a credit against Prospeo's $0.0245, so roughly a fifth cheaper, and both start at $49. Apollo's $49 carries 2,500 credits a month against Prospeo's 2,000, so it is slightly more volume for the same money.

What it adds is scope rather than savings: search, enrichment, sequencing and CRM write-back on one balance, with sequence, contact and task endpoints costing nothing to call, plus an MCP server at mcp.apollo.io/mcp.

There is also a free plan with full API access at 900 credits a seat a year, which is thinner than Prospeo's 100 a month but does include the API, which Prospeo's free tier does not.

What you give up

European coverage and the seat-free shape. Apollo requires a seat even for a pipeline nobody logs into, and its data is thinnest where Prospeo is strongest. Credits are granted per seat per year, so scaling means buying seats.

When it is the wrong answer

EMEA-heavy lists. Prospeo exists on this site because it is good at exactly the segment Apollo covers least well, and a fifth off a credit is no saving if the row does not come back.

Entry $49/seat/mo. Free plan with API access, 900 credits per seat per year granted monthly, so 75 a month. One of the few providers here that covers sourcing, enrichment and sending behind a single key, which is why it is usually the first API a GTM team wires up and the last one they rip out. Plan by plan

What you would actually pay, on each one

4 of the 5 providers here publish a rate card. Findymail does not, and the entry price below is all it will tell you without a call. The plan you want is the one whose included volume covers a normal month for you, not the cheapest one on the page.

Get these in writing before you sign: the per-unit rate at your volume, the annual minimum, how many seats that price assumes, whether API access is included or an add-on. Without the first two you cannot compare this against anything else on this page.

Professional

$79
/seat/mo billed annually, 48,000 credits a seat a year
  • 4,000 credits a month, at $0.0198 each
  • AI lead scoring and multi-touch outreach

Organization

$119
/seat/mo billed annually, minimum 3 seats

  • $0.0198 a credit, so the rate is flat across every paid tier
  • The three-seat minimum makes US$357 a month the real floor

Read the included volume before the headline price. A plan that costs twice as much and carries five times the credits is the cheaper plan, and on this page that is the usual case rather than the exception.

Answer what matters most and the lean appears below. Every option is read from the records on this page, and staying on Prospeo is one of the possible answers.

What matters most on the thing you are replacing?
Have you measured what you have today?
Answer the questions above

Each answer leans one way. The recommendation appears here once you have picked at least two.

A tool like this can only weigh what is on the page. It does not know your segment, and the one test that does is the bake-off further down: real rows, cheapest entry on each side, spend divided by survivors.

Where an answer leans on a certification or an integration, it means that vendor publishes it on the pages this directory read, which is not the same as the other one lacking it. The sources are listed at the foot of the page.

Provenance

Where the data comes from, and what you may do with it

The question that arrives late and expensively is not how good the data is, it is who is allowed to hold it. A migration is the moment to check it, because you are signing a new contract anyway.

None of these states a redistribution position on its pricing or docs pages. Internally that never matters. Put the rows in something your customers can see and it becomes the question your legal team asks first.

Two practical notes that apply to every provider on this page. A compliance badge describes the vendor, not your use of it, so a GDPR DPA does not give you a lawful basis for the outreach you send. And every one of these vendors runs its own opt-out, which means a person who asks you to delete their record has to be removed from your copy as well as from theirs.

Migration

Moving off Prospeo

Written against LeadMagic, the first pick above, because the steps are the same whichever one you take and the specifics are what make them useful. Swap the name and the order still holds.

01

Measure the thing you are about to lose

Run 500 rows you already have through Prospeo and record the match rate, the fields that came back populated and the cost. Without that number a migration cannot be judged, because every provider looks cheaper per unit than the one you are paying for today.

02

Check the fields, not the field count

LeadMagic returns every field Prospeo does, so nothing downstream has to change shape. Confirm the values rather than the keys: two providers can both return a mobile number and disagree about which one it is.

03

Rewrite the auth and the limits, in that order

Prospeo authenticates with API key in the X-KEY header. LeadMagic uses API key in the X-API-Key header.

The limits are the part that bites later. Prospeo rate: Per plan: Enrich 5/300/2,000 on Starter up to 30/1,800/500,000 on Pro. No API on Free.

LeadMagic rate: 5 req/s account-wide on Professional, 10 req/s on Ultimate. A loop tuned to the first will either crawl or get throttled on the second.

04

Run both for one billing cycle

Keep the old key live and route a slice of real traffic to the new one. A month is the shortest honest test, because credit expiry, rollover and the overage rate only show up at renewal and those are where the surprises live.

05

Cancel on the renewal date, not before

Credits on most of these plans do not survive a downgrade. Check what happens to the balance you have already paid for, and time the switch so you are not buying the same records twice.

The step people skip is the first one, and it is the only one that cannot be done after the fact. Once the old key is off you have nothing to compare the new match rate against, so a provider that is quietly worse on your segment looks like a provider that is fine.

Run the bake-off yourself, because the answer is list-specific

In our words: Asked which email finder to buy, a seller answers that the tools are much the same, and that an hour spent trying each one's free credits on a few real prospects settles it better than any recommendation.

r/sales · March 2025 · summarized rather than quoted

The same conclusion this page reaches. Match rate is a property of your list, not of a vendor, so the only number that decides this is the one you measure on your own rows. Every provider on this page except LeadMagic has a free tier or a trial you can run that test on.

The thread it comes from is also the clearest example of why these blocks are scoped the way they are: it is a "best email finder" question, and most of the replies are people naming the tool they sell. The one worth reading is the one that tells you not to trust any of them.

A bulk verification competes with the thing you bought the plan for

I've used hunter for quite some time. I needed to do a bulk verification and now my plans ruined. Looking for a new option. Spent hundreds with hunter - way more expensive than it once was

r/agency · October 2024 · 1 point

Hunter's subscription plans run one credit pool across Email Finder, Email Verifier and Domain Search, so a one-off list clean draws on the same allowance as finding does. On Starter that allowance is 2,000 credits a month, which makes a 10,000-address verification five months of the plan spent on a job that found nothing new. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over, so there is no banking your way out of it either.

What Hunter publishes for exactly this case is the Data Platform, where search credits and verification credits are bought separately and priced apart from the subscription. That is worth knowing before concluding the plan is the wrong shape, because the complaint is really about using the wrong product rather than about the price.

Only one comment from this harvest is quoted, and that is the finding. Of 83 candidates the highest-scoring were people promoting their own tools, two of them linking a Hunter URL with an affiliate parameter on it, and five more threads turned out to be about LinkHunter, a link-building product with no connection to Hunter.io.

The rate limit, not the credit price, is what people actually hit

In our words: A practitioner building on the API says the rate limits are what their team hit, that they got past them by routing requests across three Apollo accounts, and that Apollo charges per request even when a lookup returns nothing.

r/gtmengineering · May 2026 · summarized rather than quoted

Two halves worth separating. The limit is real and it is on this page: 200 requests a minute and 2,000 a day on Basic, with enrichment on a separate 1,000 a minute and no daily cap, which is why a bulk job and a per-row loop feel like different products.

The charge-on-no-output half needs care, because Apollo publishes 0 credits when nothing is found and that matches what we read. What a miss does spend is a request against the rate limit, and when the limit is the binding constraint that is the cost you feel. Pooling accounts to get round a published limit is a terms question before it is an engineering one.

Verdict

Should you actually switch?

Prospeo is the right answer for email-first volume on European lists, and it is the cheapest way to get there. Unused credits now roll into the next cycle, which removes the reason teams used to leave. What is left is the phone: a mobile costs 10 credits against LeadMagic's 5, so a dial-heavy motion is close to twice the price for no other reason.

Before you migrate anything

No provider in this category publishes a match rate you can hold them to, so run the same 500 rows through one free tier and one trial, verify every result set, and divide spend by survivors. Your own list is the only evidence worth acting on, it takes half a day, and it changes the decision often enough to be worth it.

Switching costs more than the rate card says. Usually.

Three times out of four the fix is a second provider behind the first and a credit ceiling in front of it, not a migration. We will tell you which case you are in before you sign anything.

FAQ

Switching from Prospeo, answered

What is the best Prospeo alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving, which is how this page is organized rather than ranked. The replacement most teams land on is LeadMagic, which this directory lists as the best priced per operation, at $99/mo. The case for it, and what you give up, is in the section above.

Is there a free alternative to Prospeo?

Hunter (Free plan, 50 credits per month) and Apollo (Free plan with API access, 900 credits per seat per year granted monthly, so 75 a month).

What is the cheapest Prospeo alternative?

On the entry plan, Hunter: $49/mo, against Prospeo at $49/mo. Entry price is not the same as cost per result, so check the unit figure on each review before deciding.

How were these alternatives chosen?

By the reason teams leave, not by a score. The page opens with the reasons teams leave and matches a replacement to each one.
