LeadMagic API review
Best priced per operation
POST /email-finder X-API-Key: $LEADMAGIC_KEY # 1 credit for an email, 5 for a mobile # a failed lookup costs nothing # one pool, every endpoint, rollover up to 2 months
LeadMagic sells forecastability. Every operation has a published credit cost, every endpoint draws on one shared pool, and credits come off only when a lookup succeeds. If your finance team wants a number for next quarter rather than a range, that is what you are buying, and it is rarer in this category than it should be.
The entry plan moved in 2026. Essential is now $99 a month for 5,000 credits, which is $0.0198 each, where it used to be $49.99 for 2,000. The floor doubled and the unit rate improved by about 20%, so the product got better value per credit and more expensive to start.
The newer thing worth knowing is that search is free. LeadMagic now runs zero-credit People, Company and Jobs Search at 5 to 10 requests a second, which turns the LeadMagic API from an enrichment endpoint into something you can build a list with before you spend anything.
Free search changes the shape of a pipeline more than the headline rate does. When finding candidates costs nothing and only revealing them costs a credit, the economical design is to filter hard in the search step and enrich a short list, rather than enriching everything and filtering afterwards. Teams that carry a habit over from a provider that charges for search end up paying for rows they were always going to discard.
The rest of the category is in the Enrichment APIs listing.
One pool, and what each operation draws from it
There is no per-endpoint pricing to reconcile. Everything draws on the same credit balance at the same rate, so your cost model is one number multiplied by a mix.
| Operation | Credits | At $0.0198 a credit | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email Finder | 1 | $0.0198 | The most used endpoint. LeadMagic states 97% accuracy. |
| Mobile Finder | 5 | $0.099 | Half what Prospeo and Findymail charge for the same thing. |
| Personal Email Finder | 1 pool | see docs | Same balance, cost published per operation. |
| Search API | 1 | $0.0198 | One credit a request, as distinct from search in the app. |
| Search in the app | 0 | $0.00 | Zero-credit People, Company and Jobs Search, 10k exports a day. |
| Email validation | 0.25 | $0.005 | Including catch-all validation. |
| Failed lookup | 0 | $0.00 | Stated on the pricing page: pay per result. |
The split between free search in the interface and a 1-credit Search API is the one to read twice. Pulling a list through the app costs nothing up to 10,000 exports a day. Pulling the same list through the API costs a credit a request. For a build that runs unattended that matters, and it is the kind of distinction that only shows up on an invoice.
LeadMagic bundles more than contact data into that one pool: Job Change Detector, Jobs Data, Ads Intelligence, Company Enrichment and Profile Search all draw on it. That is unusual here, where signal data normally means a second vendor and a second contract. If you were going to buy a hiring-signal provider separately, price the combined balance first.
LeadMagic API pricing, plan by plan
LeadMagic API pricing is a credit subscription with a volume curve and no free tier. Three published plans, and two months free if you pay annually.
Essential
- $83/mo billed annually, $990 a year, saving $198
- $0.0198 a credit, or $0.0165 on the annual 60,000
- 3 seats sharing one credit pool
- Rollover up to 2 months
Growth
- $208/mo billed annually
- $0.0124 a credit, or $0.0104 on the annual 240,000
- 5 seats, one shared pool
Professional
- $0.0100 a credit, or $0.0083 on the annual 600,000
- The published floor is $0.007 a credit at volume
Free tier
- No way to measure your own match rate before paying
- The clearest gap in an otherwise clear rate card
The per-credit rate halves between Essential and Professional, from $0.0198 to $0.0100, and the pricing page advertises $0.007 at the top of the curve. Annual billing takes two months off every tier and improves the per-credit rate again, so a predictable annual volume is rewarded twice.
This directory recorded LeadMagic at $49.99 for 2,000 credits in September and the entry plan is now $99 for 5,000. If you are reading an older comparison, including an older version of this page, the arithmetic in it is out of date. The unit rate improved at the same time, from $0.025 to $0.0198, so the change is worse for a small buyer and better for everyone else.
Account-wide, and low enough to design around
LeadMagic API rate limits are account-wide rather than per endpoint, which is the opposite of Hunter and PDL. The published figures are 5 requests a second on Professional and 10 on Ultimate, and the free zero-credit search runs at 5 to 10 requests a second.
What that means for a batch
These are small numbers compared with the rest of this directory.
- At 5 requests a second, 100,000 lookups take about 5.5 hours of wall clock.
- Account-wide means a second key does not buy a second allowance.
- A live integration and a nightly batch on the same account will contend.
- Hunter allows 15 a second on most endpoints and PDL reports yours in a header. LeadMagic is the tighter of the three.
What softens it
Two things keep the limit from being the problem it looks like.
- A failed lookup costs nothing, so retrying a miss is free even if it is slow.
- Credits roll over up to 2 months, so a slow month is not a wasted one.
- Search in the app is free up to 10,000 exports a day and does not draw on the API limit.
Account-wide is the word to design around. Five requests a second sounds generous until two pipelines share a key and each gets two and a half, and the fix is a queue in front of both rather than a second key, because a second key draws on the same ceiling.
How to create a LeadMagic API key
A LeadMagic API key goes in a header and covers every endpoint, because there is one credit pool and one credential behind it. There is no OAuth and no per-endpoint scoping.
The key
Simple, and that simplicity is the trade.
- Sent as X-API-Key: <your key>.
- One key reaches every endpoint on the account.
- The MCP server authenticates with the same long-lived key in a local config file.
- For some security teams that last point is the end of the conversation, because there is no OAuth alternative.
The MCP server
Bundled on every plan, including the entry one.
- Ships with the subscription rather than as an add-on, which is unusual here.
- Gives an agent the same endpoints without you writing a client.
- Same credit pool, so agent usage and pipeline usage draw on one balance.
The MCP server shipping on every tier including the $99 one is the part worth acting on. It costs nothing extra and removes the need to write a client, so wire it before you write the REST integration rather than after, and keep the REST key for the batch work it is actually better at.
Where the LeadMagic API documentation lives
LeadMagic documents per product rather than per endpoint, with a page for each of the eleven things it sells. The LeadMagic API documentation is thinner than FullEnrich's but the pricing page carries more operational detail than most vendors put in their docs at all.
| Surface | Where | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| LeadMagic API docs | docs.leadmagic.io | Endpoints, parameters and the credit cost of each. |
| Product pages | leadmagic.io/product | One page per endpoint, including accuracy claims. |
| Pricing | leadmagic.io/pricing | Per-credit rates, rollover, seats and the free-search banner. |
| MCP server | Bundled with every plan | The same endpoints as tools for an agent. |
Worth reading the product pages rather than only the API reference. LeadMagic publishes accuracy figures and behavior notes there, including the 97% claim on Email Finder, that do not appear in the endpoint documentation.
LeadMagic also ships an MCP server, and it is on the MCP page with the others in this directory.
LeadMagic on video
The section is here either way, because the absence is worth knowing: a vendor with no walkthrough of its own API is a vendor whose docs are the only way in.
We read LeadMagic's own channel on 13 October 2026 and found nothing on it that walks through the API. The channel is three long-form podcast episodes and nothing else. When LeadMagic publishes one, or sends us one, it goes here.
A vendor video is the vendor's claim about itself, which is why it sits in its own section.
Strengths and limits
LeadMagic is the most forecastable provider here, and that is a real feature rather than a consolation.
What it does well
- A published credit cost for every operation, out of one pool, with no per-endpoint pricing to reconcile.
- Failed lookups are free, so your bill tracks results rather than attempts.
- Mobile at 5 credits, half what Prospeo and Findymail charge for the same number.
- Zero-credit People, Company and Jobs Search, with 10,000 exports a day.
- An MCP server on every plan including the cheapest, which no other provider here does.
- Signal products on the same balance: job changes, jobs data and ads intelligence.
Where it falls short
- No free tier at all, so you cannot measure your own match rate before paying $99.
- The entry plan doubled from $49.99 to $99 in 2026.
- 5 requests a second account-wide is the tightest published limit in this directory.
- The MCP server authenticates with a long-lived key in a local file rather than OAuth.
- Good everywhere and best nowhere on coverage, so a heavily regional list may do better with a specialist.
Those columns describe a provider built for somebody who has to defend a number. Every operation is priced, nothing is charged on a miss, and the only real gap is that you cannot try it first. If the budget exists, that gap closes on day one; if it does not, start somewhere with a free tier and move the volume here once you can show the match rate.
Where LeadMagic data comes from, and what you may do with it
The question that arrives late and expensively is not how good the data is, it is who is allowed to hold it. These are the fields each one returns, the coverage it claims and the compliance it publishes.
| Provider | Fields returned | Coverage | Compliance | Redistribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LeadMagic | Work email, Mobile phone, Firmographics, Job postings, Job changes, LinkedIn profile | Global | GDPR DPA | Not stated |
None of these states a redistribution position on its pricing or docs pages. Internally that never matters. Put the rows in something your customers can see and it becomes the question your legal team asks first.
Two practical notes that apply to every provider on this page. A compliance badge describes the vendor, not your use of it, so a GDPR DPA does not give you a lawful basis for the outreach you send. And every one of these vendors runs its own opt-out, which means a person who asks you to delete their record has to be removed from your copy as well as from theirs.
If LeadMagic is not the answer
Four providers in the Enrichment APIs listing that solve the same problem differently. Each one is a trade, and the trade is named.
Prospeo
$49/moThe same price to within a dollar, with 100 free credits a month so you can measure in the app before committing.
Findymail
$99/moCheaper per email and the only provider here that refunds credits if your bounce rate exceeds 5%. Verified at find time rather than as a second step.
Hunter
$49/moA 50-credit monthly free tier and Domain Search, which returns every known address at a company. The fastest way to get a working call out.
Apollo
$49/seat/moWithin one percent per credit and half the monthly floor, if you can live with a seat license and credits granted per seat per year.
The full set, organized by the reason people leave, is on the LeadMagic alternatives page.
LeadMagic against the obvious rival
Same rate cards, read side by side, with the arithmetic done on a worked volume rather than left to you: Apollo vs LeadMagic, LeadMagic vs Findymail, LeadMagic vs Prospeo and ZeroBounce vs LeadMagic.
Every pairing in the directory is on the compare hub.
Apollo vs LeadMagic
CompareA seat license with 30,000 credits against a published per-operation rate card.
LeadMagic vs Findymail
CompareA published per-operation rate card against a refundable bounce guarantee.
LeadMagic vs Prospeo
CompareCredits that bank for two months against credits that reset on renewal.
Before you build against it
Five things to settle first, each one read off LeadMagic's own pages. The ticks are remembered in this browser, so you can come back to a half-finished integration.
Who should actually buy this
Buy LeadMagic when you need to forecast the bill. Every operation has a stated cost, nothing is charged for a miss, and credits bank for two months, which between them turn enrichment from a range into a number. Agencies pick it for this even where a cheaper per-unit provider exists, and that is a rational trade rather than a mistake.
It is also the right answer for a phone-heavy motion among the specialists. At 5 credits a mobile it is half the price of Prospeo and Findymail for the same thing, and the gap compounds quickly on a dial-first list.
The thing to be clear-eyed about is the missing free tier. $99 with no allowance to test on, in a category where nobody publishes a match rate you can hold them to, means your first month is the experiment. If that is a problem, start on Prospeo or Hunter, measure there, and move once you know what your segment actually returns.
The practical shape of a LeadMagic month is worth modelling before you sign. Five thousand credits at $0.0198 is $99, and the mix is what moves it: all emails and you have 5,000 lookups, all mobiles and you have 1,000. Work out your own ratio against the plan rather than against the per-credit rate, because the rate is flat and the ratio is what actually sets the bill.
The arrangement that gets the most out of it is as the second provider rather than the first. Nothing is charged on a miss, so a LeadMagic call on a row another provider already failed costs you only when it succeeds, which is exactly the economics you want on the hard half of a list.
A forecastable bill is still a bill.
Knowing exactly what each lookup costs is worth little if the pipeline is sending rows that were never going to resolve. Frontal builds the qualification step in front of the enrichment, so the predictable number is also a smaller one.
Worked with 300+ companies. A senior operator runs your account.
Nothing worth quoting yet
The harvest this site runs searches Reddit for LeadMagic threads where the API itself is the subject, and it has not come back with a quote that survives the transcription rules yet. When one does, it lands here. Nothing on this page leans on an unquoted paraphrase.
