Verification APIs, and the ones you do not need

Five providers that check an address will accept mail before your sending tool bills you for the attempt and your domain absorbs the bounce. The cheapest insurance in this directory, and the one most often bought twice by accident.

What this stage actually buys you

Verification costs a fraction of a cent and protects a sending domain that takes months to rebuild. That makes it the one place in this stack where the cheap option is also the correct one, and where skipping the step to save money is straightforwardly a bad trade.

The trap is not the price, it is buying it twice. Findymail and Prospeo verify at the moment they find an address. FullEnrich bundles verification free with enrichment. Pushing their output through a separate verifier again is pure waste, and it happens constantly because verification gets bolted onto the end of a pipeline rather than routed per source.

Get this right and you halve the line. In the waterfall stack on this site, verification is 35% of the bill even after routing it properly. Run it on everything indiscriminately and it becomes most of what you spend.

The directory

Every verify provider, filtered

Filtered to the 5 providers that serve this stage. Billing model is the filter worth starting with, because it decides whether a quiet month costs you anything.

Reviewed in full, with each rate card read off the vendor's own page: LeadMagic, Hunter and FullEnrich.

Showing 5 of 5

LeadMagic

Best priced per operation
MotionSourceEnrichVerifySignal
ModelMCP server

The clearest rate card in this directory. Every operation has a stated credit cost, credits come off only when a lookup succeeds, and search itself spends nothing on plans that include it. The MCP server ships on every tier, including the cheapest.

  • Email finder 1 credit, mobile 5, validation 0.25, job change 3
  • Credits deducted on valid results only, never on a miss
  • People, company and jobs search spends no credits from Essential up

From$99/mo

Findymail

Best bounce guarantee
MotionEnrichVerify

Findymail verifies at the moment it finds, so you are not paying twice for the same address. It is the only provider here that puts a number on deliverability and refunds against it: above a 5% bounce rate, the credits come back.

  • Under 5% bounce rate or the credits are refunded
  • Duplicates found in the last 30 days cost nothing
  • Mobile numbers are non-EU only, at 10 credits each
  • API access on every plan, with credits shared across a team rather than per seat

From$99/mo

Hunter

Best documented starter
MotionEnrichVerify
ModelMCP serverFree tier

Hunter has been the default first API in this category for a decade, and the documentation shows it. Coverage is thinner than the newer waterfall tools, but nothing else here is as fast to get a working call out of.

  • Domain Search returns every known address on a domain
  • Free tier of 50 credits a month, enough to prototype against
  • Annual billing drops Starter from $49 to $34 a month

From$49/mo

FullEnrich

Best waterfall without Clay
MotionEnrichVerify
ModelMCP server

FullEnrich runs the same waterfall logic Clay does, but as a single API call with a single bill. If all you need is the waterfall and not the spreadsheet around it, this is that half of the trade on its own.

  • Work email 1 credit, personal email 3, mobile 10
  • Verification is free when bundled with enrichment, 0.25 alone
  • Landline results cost nothing, so you only pay for mobiles

From$55/mo

ZeroBounce

Best pure verification
MotionVerifyEnrich
ModelMCP serverFree tierNo monthly floor

One of the few providers here you can use properly without a subscription. $39 buys 2,000 validations that never expire, which makes it the natural gate in front of a sending tool that charges you for every send whether it lands or not.

  • Pay as you go from $39 for 2,000 validations, the minimum buy
  • Unknown results consume no credits
  • Email Finder costs 20 credits per successful query

From$39 one-time

Buyer's guide

Four things that decide this choice

In the order they cost you money.

01

Route it per source, never at the end

Only addresses from providers that do not verify at find time need a separate check. In a four-provider waterfall that is usually one source out of four, which turns a whole-list verification cost into a quarter of one.

02

Ask what an unknown costs

A meaningful share of any list comes back as unknown because the receiving server accepts everything. ZeroBounce charges nothing for those, which matters more than the headline rate on a catch-all-heavy list. Check this before you compare per-check prices.

03

No monthly floor is worth more than a lower rate

Verification volume is lumpy. It spikes when you build a list and sits at zero for weeks after. A provider with a monthly subscription charges the same in a quiet month, which is why pay as you go usually wins here despite a higher unit price.

04

A guarantee with a remedy beats a confidence score

Most providers return a score. One refunds your credits if your bounce rate exceeds 5%. A number you can hold a vendor to is worth more than a number that describes their own confidence in themselves.

FAQ

Verification APIs, answered

How many Verification APIs are in this directory?

5, each with its own review carrying the price, the rate limit and the auth method read from the vendor's own pages.

Which Verification APIs have a free tier?

Hunter and ZeroBounce. What each free tier includes differs a lot, so the review says what you actually get.

Which Verification API is cheapest?

Per unit, ZeroBounce at $0.019 per validation. The cheapest unit is not the cheapest bill: a monthly floor and a charge on a failed lookup both change the answer, and each review states both.

How are Verification APIs billed?

Every one of them meters you, so the unit cost is the comparable figure and the monthly floor is what you actually pay at low volume. Both are on each review.

Which ones ship an MCP server?

LeadMagic, Hunter, FullEnrich and ZeroBounce. The ones the directory reviews live on the MCP page with the connect details.
