Prospeo API review
Cheapest entry for email
POST /email-finder X-KEY: $PROSPEO_KEY # 1 credit per verified business email # 10 credits per direct mobile # Free plan: no API access at all
Prospeo is the cheapest real entry point in this directory: $49 a month for 2,000 verified business emails, with a free plan on top of it. It does two things, email and phone, and it does them on European data as well as anyone here.
One thing to settle before you plan around it. The free plan gives you 100 credits a month and no API access whatsoever. Prospeo's own comparison table lists the Enrich API and the Search API as "No access" on Free, so if your evaluation involves calling the Prospeo API rather than clicking around the app, the entry price for that is $49 rather than nothing.
The good news is the credit model. One credit is one verified business email, a direct mobile is ten, and unused credits roll into the next billing cycle on top of the fresh pack rather than expiring. On annual billing the whole year arrives upfront.
The shape of the product is worth saying plainly, because the price invites a comparison it will not survive. Prospeo finds and verifies business email, and it finds direct mobiles at ten times the price. It is not a database you search, not a sequencer and not a CRM, and it holds no intent or job-change signal. At $49 that is a fair trade and it is the whole trade.
The European angle is the other half of why teams land here. Prospeo is strongest on EMEA data, which is exactly where the large North American databases thin out, so the common arrangement is not Prospeo instead of Apollo but Prospeo on the rows Apollo could not answer. Price it as the second provider in a chain rather than as a replacement for the first, because that is where its coverage earns the credit.
The rest of the category is in the Enrichment APIs listing.
Prospeo API pricing, plan by plan
Prospeo API pricing is a per-user credit subscription with four published tiers, and paying yearly saves 25% and delivers everything at once.
Free
- No API access, Enrich or Search
- 28 search filters, 3 intent topics
- Max 25 rows per selection
- App only, which is the thing to notice
Starter
- $441 a year, which is $37 a month
- 24,000 credits delivered upfront on annual
- 32 filters, 6 intent topics, 20,000 row selection
- $0.0245 a credit
Growth
- $888 a year, which is $74 a month
- 60,000 credits upfront on annual
- 38 filters, 9 intent topics
- $0.0198 a credit
Pro
- $2,241 a year, which is $187 a month
- 180,000 credits upfront on annual
- All 41 filters, 12 intent topics
- $0.0166 a credit, and the highest rate limits
A credit buys one verified business email. A direct mobile costs 10 credits, so $0.245 a number at the Starter rate, which is two and a half times what LeadMagic charges for the same thing. Prices are per user, and credits are allocated per user rather than pooled, so a three-person team buys three allowances.
Prospeo's FAQ is explicit: unused credits roll over to your next billing cycle and are added on top of the fresh pack at renewal. An earlier version of this directory said the opposite, which was true once and is not now. On a yearly plan the whole allowance lands on day one and resets at the annual renewal date, so buying Pro in January gives you 180,000 credits immediately and a reset the following January.
Published per plan, in a format nobody labels
Prospeo API rate limits are the most clearly tiered of any provider here and the least clearly explained. Prospeo publishes a triple for each API on each plan, and the pricing page does not say what the three numbers measure.
| Plan | Enrich API | Search API | Credits a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | No access | No access | 100 |
| Starter | 5 / 300 / 2,000 | 1 / 30 / 1,000 | 2,000 |
| Growth | 5 / 300 / 5,000 | 2 / 60 / 4,000 | 5,000 |
| Pro | 30 / 1,800 / 500,000 | 5 / 180 / 250,000 | 15,000 |
On Starter the Enrich API allows 2,000 a day and the plan includes 2,000 credits a month, so the limit will never bind. On Pro the API allows 500,000 a day against 15,000 credits a month, so it never binds either. The one to watch is Search on Starter at 1,000 a day, because search results cost credits too and a wide query can spend a month's allowance in an afternoon.
The shape to take away is that Prospeo publishes its ceilings per plan while almost nobody else in this category does, and that the number you care about is the one on the plan you are actually buying rather than the one at the top of the table. Starter and Pro are an order of magnitude apart, so a design that works in a trial on the cheapest tier is not evidence that it works on the tier you intend to run.
How to create a Prospeo API key
Prospeo uses a single API key in a custom header. There is no OAuth, and the key covers both the Enrich and the Search APIs on whichever plan you are on.
The key
One credential, and a header name worth double-checking.
- Sent as X-KEY, not the more common X-API-Key.
- Available once you are on a paid plan, since Free has no API access.
- The same key reaches Enrich and Search, which have separate rate limits.
- Documentation and examples live at prospeo.io/api-docs.
The MCP server
Newer than this directory's first read, and listed on every paid tier.
- Prospeo now ships an MCP server, documented at prospeo.io/api-docs/mcp.
- It appears as a feature row on the pricing comparison table.
- That puts Prospeo alongside Apollo, LeadMagic and Exa on agent access.
- Same credit balance, so agent usage draws on the plan allowance.
Both halves of that are worth doing on day one. Generate the key from the dashboard and put it straight into a secret store rather than a config file, and wire the MCP server at the same time rather than as a later project, because it is a URL and an OAuth flow rather than a build.
Where the Prospeo API documentation lives
Prospeo splits its developer material across a marketing page and a documentation site, which is worth knowing because the first one is not the one you want.
| Surface | Where | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Prospeo API docs | prospeo.io/api-docs | Endpoints, parameters and examples. Start here. |
| MCP server docs | prospeo.io/api-docs/mcp | Connecting an agent rather than writing a client. |
| Data enrichment API | prospeo.io/data-enrichment-api | The marketing overview of what the API does. |
| Integrations | prospeo.io/integrations | Clay, n8n and the rest, if you would rather not call it directly. |
| Pricing | prospeo.io/pricing | The per-plan rate limits in the table above, plus the credit FAQ. |
The pricing page is doing unusual work here: it carries the per-plan API rate limits and the clearest statement of how credits behave, both of which would normally sit in the docs. Read it alongside the API documentation rather than instead of it.
Prospeo also ships an MCP server, and it is on the MCP page with the others in this directory.
Prospeo on video
The section is here either way, because the absence is worth knowing: a vendor with no walkthrough of its own API is a vendor whose docs are the only way in.
We read Prospeo's own channel on 13 October 2026 and found nothing on it that walks through the API. The channel is full step-by-step tutorials, but they are about Apollo, ZoomInfo, Lusha and Cognism rather than about Prospeo. When Prospeo publishes one, or sends us one, it goes here.
A vendor video is the vendor's claim about itself, which is why it sits in its own section.
Strengths and limits
Prospeo is a narrow product at the lowest paid price in this directory, and both halves of that matter.
What it does well
- The cheapest paid floor here at $49 for 2,000 credits a month, with no multi-seat minimum.
- Unused credits roll into the next cycle on top of the fresh pack.
- Annual billing delivers the entire year of credits on day one.
- Strong on European data, where several cheaper providers thin out.
- Per-plan API rate limits published on the pricing page, which almost nobody does.
- An MCP server on every paid tier.
Where it falls short
- The free plan has no API access at all, so you cannot test the API before paying.
- A mobile costs 10 credits, $0.245 a number, against $0.099 at LeadMagic.
- Priced and metered per user, so a team buys an allowance each rather than a pool.
- The published rate limits are three unlabeled numbers.
- Email and phone, and little else. No sequencing, no CRM write-back.
Read those two columns together and Prospeo is a narrow product at an honest price, which is a real category and not a criticism. The thing that decides it is the free plan carrying no API access: every other provider here lets you measure a match rate before paying, and on this one the first measurement costs $49. Budget that month as part of the evaluation rather than as the start of the contract, and cancel it without ceremony if the number does not hold up on your own rows.
Where Prospeo data comes from, and what you may do with it
The question that arrives late and expensively is not how good the data is, it is who is allowed to hold it. These are the fields each one returns, the coverage it claims and the compliance it publishes.
| Provider | Fields returned | Coverage | Compliance | Redistribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prospeo | Work email, Mobile phone, LinkedIn profile | Strongest in EMEA | GDPR DPA | Not stated |
None of these states a redistribution position on its pricing or docs pages. Internally that never matters. Put the rows in something your customers can see and it becomes the question your legal team asks first.
Two practical notes that apply to every provider on this page. A compliance badge describes the vendor, not your use of it, so a GDPR DPA does not give you a lawful basis for the outreach you send. And every one of these vendors runs its own opt-out, which means a person who asks you to delete their record has to be removed from your copy as well as from theirs.
If Prospeo is not the answer
Four providers in the Enrichment APIs listing that solve the same problem differently. Each one is a trade, and the trade is named.
LeadMagic
$99/moA dollar more a month at the entry tier, credits that bank for two months, and mobile at half the credit cost.
Findymail
$99/moAlso EMEA-strong, verifies at find time, rolls over to twice your allowance, and refunds credits above a 5% bounce rate.
Hunter
$49/moSame $49 for 2,000 credits, plus Domain Search and a 50-credit free tier. Better if you start from companies rather than from people.
Apollo
$49/seat/moAbout a fifth cheaper per credit with sourcing and sequencing included, at the cost of a seat license.
The full set, organized by the reason people leave, is on the Prospeo alternatives page.
Prospeo against the obvious rival
Same rate cards, read side by side, with the arithmetic done on a worked volume rather than left to you: Apollo vs Prospeo, LeadMagic vs Prospeo, Findymail vs Prospeo and Hunter vs Prospeo.
Every pairing in the directory is on the compare hub.
Before you build against it
Five things to settle first, each one read off Prospeo's own pages. The ticks are remembered in this browser, so you can come back to a half-finished integration.
Who should actually buy this
Buy Prospeo when you want verified work email on a European list at the lowest monthly floor available, and you are one person or a small team. $49 for 2,000 credits with rollover is the cheapest honest way into this category, and the data holds up where several cheaper providers do not.
Check two things first. If your motion is phone-first, the 10-credit mobile makes this roughly two and a half times LeadMagic for the same number, and that gap compounds. If your team is more than two or three people, the per-user credit allocation means you are buying capacity for people who will not spend it.
And plan the evaluation properly, because the free tier will not do it. 100 credits a month is enough to judge the data through the app and nothing at all through the API. If the API is the point, budget one month of Starter as the experiment and measure your own match rate on your own list, which is the only evidence anyone in this category will let you gather.
Wire the evaluation around the missing API access rather than around the data. The sequence that works is to buy a single month at $49, measure the match rate on your own rows through the API you will actually use, and decide from that number. A month is cheaper than the time spent arguing about whether the app's 100 free credits tell you anything about the endpoint.
And read the rollover as the feature it is. Credits stacking onto the next cycle's pack suits lumpy work, which is most agency work and a lot of in-house work too, and it is the one place where Prospeo is structurally kinder than the providers that reset you to zero every month.
Where it does not belong is in front of a motion that needs breadth. Prospeo answers one question well and holds no firmographic depth, no technographics and no signal of any kind, so a segment defined by what a company runs or by what it just did has to be built somewhere else before Prospeo ever sees it. Treat it as the contact step rather than as the list step.
Prospeo is one of the providers in the waterfall email enrichment stack on this site, where the cost is worked out end to end at $0.0364 a record.
The cheapest floor is not the cheapest bill.
A low monthly price and a 10-credit mobile can cost more than a higher floor with a cheaper number, depending entirely on your mix. Frontal runs the arithmetic against your real volume before anyone signs, then builds the pipeline on whichever one won.
Worked with 300+ companies. A senior operator runs your account.
Nothing worth quoting yet
The harvest this site runs searches Reddit for Prospeo threads where the API itself is the subject, and it has not come back with a quote that survives the transcription rules yet. When one does, it lands here. Nothing on this page leans on an unquoted paraphrase.
