ZeroBounce vs LeadMagic
ZeroBounce
Best pure verification $39 one-timeLeadMagic
Best priced per operation $99/Different shapes of the same job. ZeroBounce is one of the few providers here you can use properly without a subscription: $39 buys 2,000 validations that never expire. LeadMagic charges 0.25 credits a validation but only makes sense if you are already buying enrichment from it. If verification is a standalone step in your pipeline, ZeroBounce; if it is a column in a LeadMagic workflow, LeadMagic.
Where they actually differ
Every value comes from the same record that drives the Verification APIs listing, so this table cannot disagree with the cards. Accented tags are data one provider returns and the other does not.

Pick each one when
ZeroBounce
- Verification is a standalone step with uneven volume.
- You want no monthly commitment at all.
- You need an Email Finder as a fallback on the same balance.
LeadMagic
- You are already enriching with LeadMagic.
- You want one credit pool across find and verify.
- You want to drive it from an MCP server.
Neither vendor publishes a match rate you could hold them to, so the rate card only tells you half the story. Take 500 rows from the segment you actually sell into, run them through one free tier and one trial, verify both result sets, and divide spend by survivors. Half a day and about $20, and on a close pair it changes the answer often enough to be worth it.
What each one costs, tier by tier
Both publish a full rate card, so this comparison runs on numbers rather than on adjectives. ZeroBounce lists 4 tiers and LeadMagic lists 4. Every figure is read off the vendor's own pricing page, and the pages they came from are listed at the foot of this one.
| The short version | ZeroBounce | LeadMagic |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest paid plan | Pay as you go, $39 | Essential, $99 |
| Tiers published | 4 | 4 |
| Free tier | Free plan, 100 validation credits per month | No free tier. Essential starts at $99 for 5,000 credits, and failed lookups cost nothing. |
| Unit cost at entry | $0.0195 per validation | $0.0198 per credit |
The cheapest paid plan is rarely the plan you end up on, because what moves you up a tier is usually volume rather than a feature. The two rate cards below are what you are choosing between.
ZeroBounce
ZeroBounce publishes 4 tiers, one of them free, and the paid ladder runs from $39 to Quote.
Free
- Renews monthly
- Full API access
- Enough to measure your own list quality
Pay as you go
- The minimum purchase, at $0.0195 each
- Add credits as you need them
- No charge for unknown results or duplicates
ZeroBounce ONE
- Saves up to 18% a month against pay as you go
- Unused credits roll over each month
- Credits never expire while the subscription is active
Volume
- Enter your own number on the pricing page
- Email Finder costs 20 credits per successful query
LeadMagic
LeadMagic publishes 4 tiers, one of them free, and the paid ladder runs from $99 to Higher.
Essential
- $83/mo billed annually, $990 a year, saving $198
- $0.0198 a credit, or $0.0165 on the annual 60,000
- 3 seats sharing one credit pool
- Rollover up to 2 months
Growth
- $208/mo billed annually
- $0.0124 a credit, or $0.0104 on the annual 240,000
- 5 seats, one shared pool
Professional
- $0.0100 a credit, or $0.0083 on the annual 600,000
- The published floor is $0.007 a credit at volume
Free tier
- No way to measure your own match rate before paying
- The clearest gap in an otherwise clear rate card
What ZeroBounce and LeadMagic cost at your volume
Put your own volume in. The model picks the cheapest published plan that covers it on each side, which is the question a rate card cannot answer and the one that decides the bill.
ZeroBounce
Publishes an entry price and no ladder above it, so the figure below is a floor rather than a forecast.
LeadMagic
Priced on the volume you use, so the plan that covers a normal month is the one that decides the bill.
Plans are read from each vendor's own pricing page and the model picks the cheapest one that covers you, so these are list prices before any discount you negotiate and before annual billing, which most of these vendors discount. ZeroBounce publishes an entry price with no ladder above it, so the figure shown is the floor rather than your bill.
What a year costs at three volumes
The same plan-fit arithmetic as the model above, run out to a year, because an annual number is what a budget actually asks for. Every column moves with volume, because all of these meter usage rather than seats.
| A year at | ZeroBounce | LeadMagic |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 a month | $468 | $1,188 Essential |
| 10,000 a month | $468 | $2,988 Growth |
| 50,000 a month | $468 | Quoted |
2 of the 2 providers here publish enough to be put in this table. These are list prices on the published plan that covers each volume, so they are the number before you negotiate and before annual billing, which most of these vendors discount by between a fifth and a half.
How this plays out once it is running
ZeroBounce is one of the few providers in this directory you can use properly with no subscription at all. $39 buys 2,000 validations that never expire, unknown results cost nothing, and a quiet quarter costs you nothing. For verification as a discrete step with lumpy volume, that shape is hard to beat.
LeadMagic charges 0.25 credits a validation, which is cheaper per check on paper, but only makes sense if you are already buying enrichment from the same balance. Buying a LeadMagic plan purely to verify means paying a monthly floor for a job ZeroBounce will do with no floor at all.
What each one is genuinely good at
Not a feature list. These are the things that make somebody keep paying after the novelty has worn off, which is a different question from what the marketing page leads with.
ZeroBounce
No monthly commitment at all
Pay as you go starts at $39 for 2,000 validations, at $0.0195 each, and that is a purchase rather than a subscription. For verification with uneven volume, not having a floor is the entire proposition, and LeadMagic starts at $99 a month.
Nothing is charged for an unknown result
ZeroBounce states plainly that it does not charge for addresses it cannot verify, nor for removing duplicates from your list. That is the same principle LeadMagic applies to enrichment, applied to validation.
An Email Finder on the same balance
At 20 credits a successful query, so a validation that comes back bad has a fallback without a second vendor. A ZeroBounce ONE subscription at $99 a month adds rollover and keeps credits alive while it is active.
LeadMagic
Validation at a quarter of a credit, on the enrichment balance
About half a cent a check at $0.0198 a credit, drawn from the same pool as your finds. If you already enrich with LeadMagic, adding verification is a line in the code rather than a vendor relationship.
One credit pool across find and verify
Email finder 1 credit, mobile 5, validation 0.25, job change 3, all from one balance with credits deducted on valid results only. There is no reconciliation between two vendors' usage reports.
An MCP server on every plan
Bundled rather than gated. ZeroBounce publishes none, so an agent-driven verification step has one option in this pairing.
Where each one falls down
Every provider on this site has a case it handles badly, and the people who find out are the ones who bought it for that case. These are the ones worth knowing before you sign rather than after.
ZeroBounce
It only verifies
ZeroBounce is a validation service with a finder attached, not an enrichment provider. If you need the address as well as the check, it is one of two vendors rather than the only one.
The Email Finder is expensive per result
Twenty credits a successful query against a validation's one. That is a fallback rather than a sourcing strategy, and treating it as the latter will be noticeably more expensive than any dedicated finder here.
Credit expiry depends on the subscription
Credits never expire while a ZeroBounce ONE subscription is active, and outside that the rules depend on when the account was created and how the credits were acquired. Check the terms rather than assuming.
LeadMagic
A $99 monthly floor for what may be a small job
There is no free tier and no pay-as-you-go option. For verification alone, buying a 5,000-credit enrichment plan to spend 0.25 credits a check is the wrong shape of purchase.
Verification is an operation, not the product
LeadMagic verifies as one of several things it does. ZeroBounce cleans 100,000 addresses in 45 minutes and is built for the bulk job, which is a different engineering problem from checking rows one at a time.
Using ZeroBounce and LeadMagic together
A two-way comparison assumes the answer is one of them. On this pairing it often is not, and the arrangement below is what teams actually end up running.
The honest answer on this page is that most teams should not buy verification separately at all, and the two cases that break that rule are different enough to name.
If you are already enriching with LeadMagic, the 0.25-credit validation on the same balance is the cheapest verification in this directory and there is nothing to add. If the job is cleaning an existing database, hundreds of thousands of historical records from providers that may no longer exist, LeadMagic is the wrong tool and ZeroBounce's no-floor purchase is exactly right.
Running both makes sense only in that second case, as a one-off clean alongside an ongoing enrichment contract. Do not route new enrichment through two vendors: LeadMagic's finds are already validated against its own checks, and paying twice to confirm a fresh address is the definition of a wasted credit.
ZeroBounce or LeadMagic, for you
Five questions, answered from the same records as the rest of this page. Nothing is sent anywhere and there is no result to email yourself.
Each answer leans one way. The recommendation appears here once you have picked at least two.
A tool like this can only weigh what is on the page. It does not know your segment, and the one test that does is the bake-off further down: real rows, cheapest entry on each side, spend divided by survivors.
Where an answer leans on a certification or an integration, it means that vendor publishes it on the pages this directory read, which is not the same as the other one lacking it. The sources are listed at the foot of the page.
Where the data comes from, and what you may do with it
The question that arrives late and expensively is not how good the data is, it is who is allowed to hold it. These are the fields each one returns, the coverage it claims and the compliance it publishes.
| Provider | Fields returned | Coverage | Compliance | Redistribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZeroBounce | Work email | Global | GDPR DPA SOC 2 Type II CCPA | Not stated |
| LeadMagic | Work email, Mobile phone, Firmographics, Job postings, Job changes, LinkedIn profile | Global | GDPR DPA | Not stated |
None of these states a redistribution position on its pricing or docs pages. Internally that never matters. Put the rows in something your customers can see and it becomes the question your legal team asks first.
Two practical notes that apply to every provider on this page. A compliance badge describes the vendor, not your use of it, so a GDPR DPA does not give you a lawful basis for the outreach you send. And every one of these vendors runs its own opt-out, which means a person who asks you to delete their record has to be removed from your copy as well as from theirs.
Moving between ZeroBounce and LeadMagic
Most readers of this page are already on one of these two. A swap is four hours of code and a month of watching, and the order below is the one that catches the expensive mistakes while they are still free.
Measure the thing you are about to lose
Run 500 rows you already have through ZeroBounce and record the match rate, the fields that came back populated and the cost. Without that number a migration cannot be judged, because every provider looks cheaper per unit than the one you are paying for today.
Check the fields, not the field count
LeadMagic returns every field ZeroBounce does, so nothing downstream has to change shape. Confirm the values rather than the keys: two providers can both return a mobile number and disagree about which one it is.
Rewrite the auth and the limits, in that order
ZeroBounce authenticates with API key as a query parameter. LeadMagic uses API key in the X-API-Key header.
The limits are the part that bites later. ZeroBounce rate: Real-time single validation plus bulk file endpoints.
LeadMagic rate: 5 req/s account-wide on Professional, 10 req/s on Ultimate. A loop tuned to the first will either crawl or get throttled on the second.
Run both for one billing cycle
Keep the old key live and route a slice of real traffic to the new one. A month is the shortest honest test, because credit expiry, rollover and the overage rate only show up at renewal and those are where the surprises live.
Cancel on the renewal date, not before
Credits on most of these plans do not survive a downgrade. Check what happens to the balance you have already paid for, and time the switch so you are not buying the same records twice.
The step people skip is the first one, and it is the only one that cannot be done after the fact. Once the old key is off you have nothing to compare the new match rate against, so a provider that is quietly worse on your segment looks like a provider that is fine.
What practitioners say about ZeroBounce
The one part of this page that is not a vendor claim. Quotes are transcribed as written, linked to the thread, and nothing here is the only source for a figure in the tables above.
Buying verification twice is the mistake, not buying it at all
switched f4om zerobounce to just using prospeo's verification maybe 4 months ago. way more reliable on B2B emails, like our bounces went from around 4% down to under 1% which was huge for us. plus you get the contact data and verification in one place so your not paying twice for basically teh same thing. only gripe is the UI could be a bit more polished but the data quality makes up for it

This is the routing argument from the waterfall stack on this site, arrived at from the other direction. A provider that verifies at the moment it finds has already done the work, so pushing its output through a separate verifier is a second invoice for one result. Prospeo and Findymail both verify at find time and FullEnrich bundles it, which is why the modeled stack sends only Apollo's output here.
The bounce rates are one team's own sending on their own list rather than a benchmark, and no provider in this category publishes a match rate you can hold it to. Take the structure of the complaint and measure the percentages yourself.
A verified address is verified on the day you checked it
the problem with b2b verification is that companies change their email systems way more often than people realize, especially smaller ones. what looks "verified" today might bounce tomorrow because they switched providers or updated their mx records. for what it's worth, newer companies are definitely trickier - their domains don't have the email history that verification services rely in. [...] the double-paying thing is real pain too.
r/EntrepreneurRideAlong · April 2026 · 2 points
The mechanism is the useful half. A verification is a statement about an MX record and a mailbox on the day the check ran, and a company that moves mail provider invalidates it without telling anybody. That is the argument for verifying close to send rather than verifying a list once and sending from it all quarter.
The part about newer domains is this commenter's own experience and not something measured here. Several people in the same thread report recently registered domains being flagged as risky, which is a provider protecting its own accuracy statistics at the cost of your list, so test it on your own rows before treating catch-all handling as a reason to switch.
14 threads read on 13 October 2026, searched by vendor name. Scores and dates are the comment's own. Nothing here is the only source for a price or a limit on this site: every figure in the tables above comes from a vendor's own page.

ZeroBounce and LeadMagic, answered
Read from the same records that drive the table above.
Is ZeroBounce or LeadMagic cheaper?
On the entry plan it is ZeroBounce, $39 one-time against LeadMagic at $99/mo. Per unit it is $0.019 per validation against $0.02 per credit, which is the figure that decides it at volume.
Can I try ZeroBounce and LeadMagic for free?
ZeroBounce: Free plan, 100 validation credits per month. LeadMagic: No free tier. Essential starts at $99 for 5,000 credits, and failed lookups cost nothing.
What are the rate limits on ZeroBounce and LeadMagic?
ZeroBounce: Real-time single validation plus bulk file endpoints. LeadMagic: 5 req/s account-wide on Professional, 10 req/s on Ultimate.
Do ZeroBounce and LeadMagic both have MCP servers?
Both do. ZeroBounce: Open-source local server, @zerobounce/mcp. LeadMagic: Bundled with every plan.
Which is better, ZeroBounce or LeadMagic?
Different shapes of the same job. ZeroBounce is one of the few providers here you can use properly without a subscription: $39 buys 2,000 validations that never expire. LeadMagic charges 0.25 credits a validation but only makes sense if you are already buying enrichment from it.
What are the downsides of ZeroBounce and LeadMagic?
Measured against each other rather than in general. ZeroBounce: none of the structural gaps in this answer; the limits section carries its operational ones. LeadMagic: there is no free tier, so you cannot measure your own match rate before paying.
Can you use ZeroBounce and LeadMagic together?
The honest answer on this page is that most teams should not buy verification separately at all, and the two cases that break that rule are different enough to name.
Can I migrate from ZeroBounce to LeadMagic without losing data?
The fields survive: LeadMagic returns everything ZeroBounce does. What changes is the auth and the limits. Either way, measure your match rate on 500 rows before you switch, because that number is the one you cannot recover afterwards.
