lemlist alternatives, sorted by why you are leaving

lemlist gives you the API, the MCP server and unlimited senders on the entry plan. What it sells separately is the data. 3 replacements below, each one matched to a specific reason rather than ranked on a score nobody can audit.

Prices and limits for every option below are read off the vendor's own page. These are the lemlist competitors that answer a named problem, not a field of logos.

The 3 reasons people actually leave

If none of these is your situation, the honest answer is that you should probably stay, and the lemlist API review covers what you already have. The 26 providers these replacements are drawn from are in the Sending APIs listing.

1 · The data is an add-on, and the add-ons stack

The $55 entry plan buys sending. Contact data is a separate $16 a month for 2,000 credits across 25-plus providers, and intent signals are another $21. That is a defensible way to price it and it means the real monthly figure is rarely the one on the pricing page, which is the thing that sends people to compare.

2 · Twenty requests per 2 seconds is the ceiling

lemlist allows 20 requests per 2 seconds, which is 10 a second sustained, with Retry-After and X-RateLimit headers on every response. The documentation is good and the number is modest: Instantly publishes 100 a second and 6,000 a minute per workspace, which is ten times the room for the same kind of job.

3 · There is no free tier, only a 14-day trial

Nothing to keep a staging environment alive on after the trial ends, which matters once the integration is built and somebody wants to test a change. None of the picks below has a free tier either, so this is a category problem rather than a lemlist one, but it is the reason evaluations here are rushed.

In detail

The case for each one

Each one below is matched to a reason rather than scored, and each one names what you give up by taking it. A replacement with no downside is a replacement nobody has actually run.

Instantly

Ten times the throughput at $47 a month, with unlimited email accounts and warmup on every Outreach plan.

The throughput difference is the clearest reason on this page. Instantly publishes 100 requests a second and 6,000 a minute, shared across v1, v2 and every key in the workspace, against lemlist's 20 per 2 seconds. For a sync that writes campaign results back, or anything an agent drives in a loop, that is the difference between a job that finishes and one you have to pace.

The metering is also shaped differently and it suits a different team. Instantly meters uploaded contacts and emails rather than mailboxes, so unlimited email accounts and warmup come on every Outreach plan and you pay for the volume you actually send. lemlist gives unlimited users and senders too, so neither charges per mailbox, and the separation is what else is in the box.

Outreach and Credits are sold separately from $47 each, which is the same add-on shape that sends people away from lemlist, so go in with your eyes open: this is a cheaper floor and the same structure, not an escape from it.

What you give up

The MCP server and the CLI. lemlist ships both on its entry plan and Instantly ships neither, so an agent-driven workflow is REST and your own glue here. You also give up lemlist's LinkedIn steps inside the same sequence.

When it is the wrong answer

Teams that bought lemlist for the multichannel sequence. If LinkedIn and email need to sit in one campaign, Reply.io below is the closer replacement and Instantly is an email tool.

Entry $47/mo. No free tier. Outreach and Credits are sold separately from $47 each.. Instantly splits the product in two and sells each half on its own: an Outreach plan with unlimited email accounts and unlimited warmup from $47 a month, and a Credits plan for the 450M contact database and waterfall enrichment. Read the review · lemlist vs Instantly

Reply.io

LinkedIn and email in one sequence, with the API on every plan and in the trial. The closest like-for-like here.

Reply.io is the nearest thing to a straight swap, because it does what lemlist does: email and LinkedIn in the same sequence, with the API included on every plan rather than held back for an upgrade. The 14-day trial carries API access and 300 active contacts, so the integration can be proved before anything is signed, which lemlist's trial also allows.

The pricing changes shape rather than just scaling, and that is the thing to model. It is $49 a user a month up to 5,000 active contacts, then flat for unlimited users at 10,000, so two seats already cost more on the smaller plan than on the larger one. It is metered on active contacts rather than on sends or mailboxes, which is a third metering axis again.

Reply.io is also the only vendor in this category that publishes the formula behind its unlimited mailbox claim: one mailbox per 40 active contacts, written down in its own support article. Nobody else states the fair usage rule, and it is the number that decides whether unlimited means anything for your volume.

What you give up

The MCP server, and some care over API versions. Reply.io runs two live API generations 43 times apart: v3 allows 100 requests a minute and 150,000 a rolling week, while the deprecated v1 and v2 still work and allow 15,000 calls a month with a ten-second floor between calls. Check the base path before anything else on an inherited integration.

When it is the wrong answer

A team with many users and few contacts, where per-user pricing below 5,000 active contacts is the worst corner of the curve. Price your own seat-to-contact ratio against the two tiers before moving.

Entry $49/user/mo. No free tier. 14-day trial with API access and 300 active contacts.. Reply.io meters active contacts rather than emails, and the price flips shape partway up the slider: $49 a user at 1,000 contacts, then $159 for unlimited users at 10,000. Read the review

Smartlead

The lowest headline at $39 and unlimited mailboxes on every plan. Read the plan gate before you compare it to anything.

Smartlead's argument is unlimited email accounts on every plan with no per-mailbox charge, at a $39 entry price that is the lowest in this category. For a team running many domains and mailboxes against a modest contact list, that shape is genuinely cheaper than anything else here.

The gate is the thing to check first and it is easy to miss. API access and webhooks start at the Pro plan: Base has neither. So the entry price for anything programmatic is $94 rather than $39, and a comparison that uses the $39 figure against lemlist's $55 is comparing a plan you cannot build on.

Three separate counters run at once, on contacts, sends and verified prospect emails, and the rate limits are 60 requests a minute and 1,000 an hour per key, rising to 120 and 3,000 on Pro. Three analytics endpoints are capped at 10 calls a minute whatever the plan, which is the one that surprises a reporting job.

What you give up

LinkedIn steps, the MCP server and the CLI. Smartlead is email sending, so a multichannel sequence needs a second tool, and lemlist's agent surface has no equivalent here.

When it is the wrong answer

Anyone comparing on the $39 headline, and any multichannel motion. If the API matters, the number to compare is $94, and at that point the throughput and the feature set decide it rather than the price.

Entry $39/mo. No free tier. Free trial, no card. API access starts at the Pro plan.. Most sending tools price by mailbox, which punishes exactly the setup that keeps you out of spam. Read the review · lemlist vs Smartlead

Read the included volume before the headline price. A plan that costs twice as much and carries five times the credits is the cheaper plan, and on this page that is the usual case rather than the exception.

Decide

Which replacement is yours

Answer what matters most and the lean appears below. Every option is read from the records on this page, and staying on lemlist is one of the possible answers.

What does your finance team want to see?
Have you measured what you have today?
Answer the questions above

Each answer leans one way. The recommendation appears here once you have picked at least two.

A tool like this can only weigh what is on the page. It does not know your segment, and the one test that does is the bake-off further down: real rows, cheapest entry on each side, spend divided by survivors.

Where an answer leans on a certification or an integration, it means that vendor publishes it on the pages this directory read, which is not the same as the other one lacking it. The sources are listed at the foot of the page.

Provenance

Where the data comes from, and what you may do with it

The question that arrives late and expensively is not how good the data is, it is who is allowed to hold it. A migration is the moment to check it, because you are signing a new contract anyway.

ProviderFields returnedCoverageComplianceRedistribution

InstantlyWork email, Firmographics, Job postings, Intent and newsGlobalGDPR DPANot stated
Reply.ioWork email, LinkedIn profile, CRM recordsGlobalGDPR DPANot stated
SmartleadWork email, CRM recordsGlobalGDPR DPA SOC 2 Type IINot stated

None of these states a redistribution position on its pricing or docs pages. Internally that never matters. Put the rows in something your customers can see and it becomes the question your legal team asks first.

Two practical notes that apply to every provider on this page. A compliance badge describes the vendor, not your use of it, so a GDPR DPA does not give you a lawful basis for the outreach you send. And every one of these vendors runs its own opt-out, which means a person who asks you to delete their record has to be removed from your copy as well as from theirs.

Migration

Moving off lemlist

Written against Instantly, the first pick above, because the steps are the same whichever one you take and the specifics are what make them useful. Swap the name and the order still holds.

01

Measure the thing you are about to lose

Run 500 rows you already have through lemlist and record the match rate, the fields that came back populated and the cost. Without that number a migration cannot be judged, because every provider looks cheaper per unit than the one you are paying for today.

02

Check the fields, not the field count

Instantly does not return Mobile phone, LinkedIn profile and Job changes, which lemlist does. If anything downstream reads mobile phone, that is a change to your pipeline and not just to your vendor.

03

Rewrite the auth and the limits, in that order

lemlist authenticates with API key, with OAuth on the MCP server. Instantly uses bearer token, from a scoped API v2 key in workspace settings.

The limits are the part that bites later. lemlist rate: 20 requests per 2 seconds. Retry-After and X-RateLimit headers on every response.

Instantly rate: 100 req/s and 6,000/min, shared across v1, v2 and every key in the workspace. A loop tuned to the first will either crawl or get throttled on the second.

04

Run both for one billing cycle

Keep the old key live and route a slice of real traffic to the new one. A month is the shortest honest test, because credit expiry, rollover and the overage rate only show up at renewal and those are where the surprises live.

05

Cancel on the renewal date, not before

Credits on most of these plans do not survive a downgrade. Check what happens to the balance you have already paid for, and time the switch so you are not buying the same records twice.

The step people skip is the first one, and it is the only one that cannot be done after the fact. Once the old key is off you have nothing to compare the new match rate against, so a provider that is quietly worse on your segment looks like a provider that is fine.

What practitioners say

What practitioners say about Smartlead

Transcribed as written and linked to the thread. A Reddit claim is a signal rather than a fact, so nothing here is the only source for any figure on this page.

The sending tool is not what decides deliverability

To be clear, instantly Apollo and smartleads are all just front end management tools for campaign, lead list, and sending triggering through any API/SMTP servers (like Gmail, M365, sendgrid, SES, etc.) and they shouldn't have a direct effect on deliverability. Your email copy, leads, and sending patterns/volume are what matters the most

r/Emailmarketing · June 2024 · 5 points

The most useful correction on this page, and it applies to every sending provider in the directory rather than to Smartlead alone. These products schedule, rotate and report; the mail still leaves through Google, Microsoft or an SMTP relay, and the things that decide placement are the domain, the authentication, the list and the volume curve.

What that means for a comparison like this one is that the feature lists are not where the difference lives. Compare the mailbox economics, the webhook surface and what the API lets you automate, because those are the parts the vendor actually controls.

14 threads read on 13 October 2026, searched by vendor name. Scores and dates are the comment's own. Nothing here is the only source for a price or a limit on this site: every figure in the tables above comes from a vendor's own page.

Verdict

Should you actually switch?

Instantly if throughput is the problem, because 100 requests a second against lemlist's 10 is the widest gap on this page and it costs $47. Smartlead if you want unlimited mailboxes at the lowest headline, but check the plan: the API starts at Pro, not at the $39 tier. Reply.io if LinkedIn and email belong in one sequence and you want the API included on every plan including the trial. Honestly, most teams leaving lemlist are leaving the add-on pricing rather than the sender, and that is worth confirming before you move a single campaign.

Before you migrate anything

Sending reputation does not transfer, so the migration is a warm-up schedule rather than an export. Confirm the API is on the plan you intend to buy, move one domain first and run it alongside the old sender for two weeks, and compare reply rate on the same list. Moving everything at once is how a working domain gets burned.

Switching costs more than the rate card says. Usually.

Three times out of four the fix is a second provider behind the first and a credit ceiling in front of it, not a migration. We will tell you which case you are in before you sign anything.

FAQ

Switching from lemlist, answered

What is the best lemlist alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving, which is how this page is organized rather than ranked. The replacement most teams land on is Instantly, which this directory lists as the best for unlimited mailboxes and warmup, at $47/mo. The case for it, and what you give up, is in the section above.

Is there a free alternative to lemlist?

None of the replacements here has a free tier. The cheapest route is a trial, and each one's entry price is on its own review.

What is the cheapest lemlist alternative?

On the entry plan, Smartlead: $39/mo, against lemlist at $55/mo annual. Entry price is not the same as cost per result, so check the unit figure on each review before deciding.

How were these alternatives chosen?

By the reason teams leave, not by a score. The page opens with the reasons teams leave and matches a replacement to each one.
