Cognism vs RocketReach
Cognism
Best for notified, DNC-screened contact data Quote onlyRocketReach
API and MCP on the cheapest paid tier $33/RocketReach if the question is price, because it publishes every tier, every allowance and a per-export cost that falls from $0.33 to $0.08, and puts the API on all three paid plans. Cognism if the question is where the data came from, because it is the only one here that notifies its contacts inside GDPR timeframes and screens phones against 15 Do Not Call registers. The two are not really competing on quality, they are competing on which risk you would rather carry. Teams on an EU list usually find the choice is made for them.
Where they actually differ
Every value comes from the same record that drives the Enrichment APIs listing, so this table cannot disagree with the cards. Accented tags are data one provider returns and the other does not.

Pick each one when
Cognism
- The list is European and the coverage has to hold outside North America.
- A compliance team will ask how the contacts were sourced, and will not accept a DPA alone.
- You are dialling mobiles and want them screened against Do Not Call registers first.
RocketReach
- You want the price on the page, and the per-unit cost to fall as you grow.
- Nobody logs in, and buying five seats to get an API key is the wrong shape.
- Personal emails matter, and you want them on the same export as the work address.
Neither vendor publishes a match rate you could hold them to, so the rate card only tells you half the story. Take 500 rows from the segment you actually sell into, run them through a trial or entry plan from each side, verify both result sets, and divide spend by survivors. Half a day and about $20, and on a close pair it changes the answer often enough to be worth it.
What each one costs, tier by tier
Only one of these two publishes a rate card. RocketReach lists its tiers, and Cognism quotes everything, so half of this comparison is a number you have to go and get. Every figure is read off the vendor's own pricing page, and the pages they came from are listed at the foot of this one.
| The short version | Cognism | RocketReach |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest paid plan | Not published | Essentials, $33 |
| Tiers published | None | 4 |
| Free tier | No free tier and no published price. Both plans include 5 seats. | No ongoing free tier. |
| Unit cost at entry | Not sold by the unit | $0.25 per export |
The cheapest paid plan is rarely the plan you end up on, because what moves you up a tier is usually volume rather than a feature, and the two cards below say what each side publishes and what it keeps off the page.
Cognism
Cognism publishes no price at all, so there is no rate card to put here. Everything is quoted, which means the number you get depends on what you ask for and on where in their quarter you ask it.
Get these in writing before you sign: the per-unit rate at your volume, the annual minimum, how many seats that price assumes, whether API access is included or an add-on. Without the first two you cannot compare this against anything else on this page.
RocketReach
RocketReach publishes 4 tiers, none of them free, and the paid ladder runs from $33 to From $6,000.
Essentials
- 1,200 exports a year, so 100 a month
- Unlimited verified emails
- MCP and API access on every plan
- Send up to 500 emails a day
Pro
- 3,600 exports a year, so 300 a month
- Verified mobile and direct phone numbers
- Technographics, news and org charts
- Salesforce, Outreach, HubSpot and Salesloft
Ultimate
- 20,000 exports a year, so about 1,667 a month
- Intent data and healthcare data
- Salesforce custom mapping
Enterprise
- Custom packages and company exports
- Higher API limits
- Premium support
What Cognism and RocketReach cost at your volume
Put your own volume in. The model picks the cheapest published plan that covers it on each side, which is the question a rate card cannot answer and the one that decides the bill.
Cognism
Publishes no price, so there is nothing here to model and the lines below say what to ask for.
RocketReach
Priced on the volume you use, so the plan that covers a normal month is the one that decides the bill.
Plans are read from each vendor's own pricing page and the model picks the cheapest one that covers you, so these are list prices before any discount you negotiate and before annual billing, which most of these vendors discount. Cognism publishes no price, so nothing is modeled there and the panel says what to ask for instead.
What a year costs at three volumes
The same plan-fit arithmetic as the model above, run out to a year, because an annual number is what a budget actually asks for. Every column moves with volume, because all of these meter usage rather than seats.
| A year at | Cognism | RocketReach |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 a month | Quoted | $1,704 Ultimate |
| 10,000 a month | Quoted | Quoted |
| 50,000 a month | Quoted | Quoted |
1 of the 2 providers here publish enough to be put in this table. These are list prices on the published plan that covers each volume, so they are the number before you negotiate and before annual billing, which most of these vendors discount by between a fifth and a half.
How this plays out once it is running
These two sit at opposite ends of one axis, and it is not data quality. RocketReach publishes three paid tiers, the annual export allowance on each, and a per-export price that works out at $0.33, $0.25 and $0.085 as you move up. Cognism publishes no price at any tier, two plans with five seats each, and no allowance anywhere. You can budget a year of RocketReach from a web page and you cannot budget a month of Cognism without a sales process.
What Cognism sells instead is the answer to a question RocketReach does not address. Its records are notified inside GDPR timeframes, its phone data is screened against 15 Do Not Call and TPS registers, and it carries ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II. RocketReach carries a GDPR DPA and CCPA, which is what everybody carries. If nobody in your business is going to ask, that difference is a cost with no return; if somebody is, nothing cheaper closes it.
What each one is genuinely good at
Not a feature list. These are the things that make somebody keep paying after the novelty has worn off, which is a different question from what the marketing page leads with.
Cognism
Notified data, not just a processing agreement
Cognism tells the business contacts it holds that it holds them, inside the timeframes GDPR sets, and screens its phone numbers against 15 Do Not Call and TPS registers before they reach you. Every other vendor in this comparison signs a DPA and leaves the lawful basis to you. That is the whole product, and it is the reason the price is a conversation.
Global coverage against a North American database
Cognism is marked global here and RocketReach North American. On an EU-heavy list that decides it before any rate card does, because a lower price per export on a database that does not hold your market is not lower per contact found.
An MCP server with real authentication
Cognism publishes an MCP endpoint at mcp.cognism.com/mcp, authenticated through OAuth 2.0 client credentials issued from M2M Connect in the platform settings. RocketReach also offers MCP on its paid tiers, so both sides are covered here, but Cognism is the one doing client-credentials OAuth rather than an API key, which is what a security review will ask about.
RocketReach
Every number is on the page
Essentials is $399 a year for 1,200 exports, Pro $899 for 3,600, Ultimate $1,699 for 20,000, and Enterprise starts at $6,000. You can work out the cost of next year before you speak to anybody. Against a vendor that publishes nothing, that is not a minor convenience: it is the difference between comparing two options and comparing one option to a meeting.
The unit price falls as you buy more, which is rare here
An export costs $0.33 on Essentials and $0.085 on Ultimate, a genuine fourfold volume discount rather than a larger bucket at a fixed rate. Most of this category, Lusha and Apollo included, holds the per-unit price flat and sells you more seats instead.
No seat floor, and the API is on the cheapest paid plan
API and MCP access sit on all three paid tiers from $33 a month. Cognism includes five seats on both of its plans whether or not five people exist. For a workload that nobody logs into, RocketReach is the only one of the two shaped for it.
Where each one falls down
Every provider on this site has a case it handles badly, and the people who find out are the ones who bought it for that case. These are the ones worth knowing before you sign rather than after.
Cognism
No price, no allowance, and five seats in the floor
There is no published rate at any tier and both plans carry five seats. The evaluation itself costs you a sales cycle, and a headless integration is buying a team license to obtain a key. That is a defensible trade for the compliance posture and an indefensible one if you only wanted contact data.
Three meters running at once
Search tokens count the rows a query returns, credits count the contacts you reveal, and requests are capped at 500 a minute per operation with a separate window each. The one that stops a backfill is usually tokens, because a broad search returns far more than it reveals, and the contract talks about credits.
RocketReach
The compliance answer is the ordinary one
A GDPR DPA and CCPA, which is the baseline across this directory. There is no notified-data position and no Do Not Call screening, so the lawful basis for contacting a European record is yours to establish. On a North American outbound motion that is routine; on an EU list it is the thing Cognism exists to solve.
The allowance is annual and the entry plan is small
1,200 exports a year on Essentials is 100 a month. The $33 headline is an instalment on an annual commitment rather than a monthly budget, so the plan that genuinely competes with an enterprise data contract is Ultimate at $1,699 a year.
Nothing about throughput is published
RocketReach publishes no rate limits at all; the annual export allowance is the binding constraint. Cognism at least tells you it is 500 requests a minute per operation. For a scheduled batch neither matters much, and for anything that has to answer a user in real time the unpublished one is the risk.
Using Cognism and RocketReach together
A two-way comparison assumes the answer is one of them. On this pairing it often is not, and the arrangement below is what teams actually end up running.
Running both only makes sense as a regional split, and then it makes a lot of sense. RocketReach on the North American rows at $0.085 an export with the personal email and the mobile included, Cognism on everything in EMEA where the coverage and the notification position both apply. The branch is the country on the account and it costs you one condition in whatever calls the APIs.
What stops that being a double bill is that you are choosing per row rather than waterfalling. Neither provider sees the rows the other handled, so you pay roughly the blended rate across your list rather than the sum of two contracts. It is the same arrangement practitioners describe for ZoomInfo and Cognism, with the North American side swapped for the cheaper vendor.
The thing that breaks it is a compliance requirement that is actually a requirement. If somebody needs to be able to say how every contact was sourced, the North American rows need that answer too, and routing half your list to a vendor with a DPA and nothing else reopens the gap you paid Cognism to close. Settle whether the posture is a policy or a preference first, because it turns this from a split into a single choice.
Cognism or RocketReach, for you
Five questions, answered from the same records as the rest of this page. Nothing is sent anywhere and there is no result to email yourself.
Each answer leans one way. The recommendation appears here once you have picked at least two.
A tool like this can only weigh what is on the page. It does not know your segment, and the one test that does is the bake-off further down: real rows, cheapest entry on each side, spend divided by survivors.
Where an answer leans on a certification or an integration, it means that vendor publishes it on the pages this directory read, which is not the same as the other one lacking it. The sources are listed at the foot of the page.
Where the data comes from, and what you may do with it
The question that arrives late and expensively is not how good the data is, it is who is allowed to hold it. These are the fields each one returns, the coverage it claims and the compliance it publishes.
| Provider | Fields returned | Coverage | Compliance | Redistribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cognism | Work email, Mobile phone, Firmographics, Technographics, Intent and news, Job postings, Job changes | Global | ISO 27001 ISO 27701 SOC 2 Type II GDPR notified data | Not stated |
| RocketReach | Work email, Personal email, Mobile phone, Firmographics, Technographics, Intent and news | Strongest in NA | GDPR DPA CCPA | Not stated |
None of these states a redistribution position on its pricing or docs pages. Internally that never matters. Put the rows in something your customers can see and it becomes the question your legal team asks first.
Two practical notes that apply to every provider on this page. A compliance badge describes the vendor, not your use of it, so a GDPR DPA does not give you a lawful basis for the outreach you send. And every one of these vendors runs its own opt-out, which means a person who asks you to delete their record has to be removed from your copy as well as from theirs.
Moving between Cognism and RocketReach
Most readers of this page are already on one of these two. A swap is four hours of code and a month of watching, and the order below is the one that catches the expensive mistakes while they are still free.
Measure the thing you are about to lose
Run 500 rows you already have through Cognism and record the match rate, the fields that came back populated and the cost. Without that number a migration cannot be judged, because every provider looks cheaper per unit than the one you are paying for today.
Check the fields, not the field count
RocketReach does not return Job postings and Job changes, which Cognism does. If anything downstream reads job postings, that is a change to your pipeline and not just to your vendor.
Rewrite the auth and the limits, in that order
Cognism authenticates with OAuth 2.0 client credentials, from M2M Connect in platform settings. RocketReach uses API key, per the RocketReach API v2 docs.
The limits are the part that bites later. Cognism rate: 500 req/min per operation, separate windows. Plus search tokens and credits.
RocketReach rate: Not published. The annual export allowance is the binding constraint. A loop tuned to the first will either crawl or get throttled on the second.
Run both for one billing cycle
Keep the old key live and route a slice of real traffic to the new one. A month is the shortest honest test, because credit expiry, rollover and the overage rate only show up at renewal and those are where the surprises live.
Cancel on the renewal date, not before
Credits on most of these plans do not survive a downgrade. Check what happens to the balance you have already paid for, and time the switch so you are not buying the same records twice.
The step people skip is the first one, and it is the only one that cannot be done after the fact. Once the old key is off you have nothing to compare the new match rate against, so a provider that is quietly worse on your segment looks like a provider that is fine.
What practitioners say about Cognism
The one part of this page that is not a vendor claim. Quotes are transcribed as written, linked to the thread, and nothing here is the only source for a figure in the tables above.
The regional split is the real difference, and practitioners buy both
Each data tool only really excels at one or two things. ZI is solid for NA mid-market and enterprise, while Cognism crushes it in EMEA and cell numbers. Every time I need one, we run a trial. If you've got the budget, use 2-3 tools to cover more ground. Right now, I'm using Clay for data infrastructure, Cognism for EMEA, and ZoomInfo for the US. sometimes Cognism finds data that ZI can't-and vice versa.

The comparison pages here reach the same place from the rate cards rather than from experience: Cognism sells notified EMEA data and mobile coverage, ZoomInfo sells North American breadth, and neither of them publishes a price. This is somebody running both with Clay in front, which is the arrangement those verdicts describe rather than the either-or the question usually assumes.
Coverage is the one thing nobody in this category will put a number behind, so "crushes it in EMEA" is an experienced opinion and not a measurement. The thread it sits in is itself a request for accuracy benchmarks that do not exist, which is a fair summary of the evidence available on either vendor.
14 threads read on 13 October 2026, searched by vendor name. Scores and dates are the comment's own. Nothing here is the only source for a price or a limit on this site: every figure in the tables above comes from a vendor's own page.

Cognism and RocketReach, answered
Read from the same records that drive the table above.
Is Cognism or RocketReach cheaper?
Cognism does not publish a price at any tier, so the two cannot be compared on cost. RocketReach starts at $33/mo annual, which is as far as the comparison goes.
Can I try Cognism and RocketReach for free?
Cognism: No free tier and no published price. Both plans include 5 seats. RocketReach: No ongoing free tier.
What are the rate limits on Cognism and RocketReach?
Cognism: 500 req/min per operation, separate windows. Plus search tokens and credits. RocketReach: Not published. The annual export allowance is the binding constraint.
Do Cognism and RocketReach both have MCP servers?
Both do. Cognism: https://mcp.cognism.com/mcp. RocketReach: MCP access on every paid tier.
Which is better, Cognism or RocketReach?
RocketReach if the question is price, because it publishes every tier, every allowance and a per-export cost that falls from $0.33 to $0.08, and puts the API on all three paid plans. Cognism if the question is where the data came from, because it is the only one here that notifies its contacts inside GDPR timeframes and screens phones against 15 Do Not Call registers.
What are the downsides of Cognism and RocketReach?
Measured against each other rather than in general. Cognism: there is no free tier, so you cannot measure your own match rate before paying; nothing is priced publicly, so every comparison starts with a sales call. RocketReach: there is no free tier, so you cannot measure your own match rate before paying.
Can you use Cognism and RocketReach together?
Running both only makes sense as a regional split, and then it makes a lot of sense. RocketReach on the North American rows at $0.085 an export with the personal email and the mobile included, Cognism on everything in EMEA where the coverage and the notification position both apply.
Can I migrate from Cognism to RocketReach without losing data?
Not without losing a field. RocketReach does not return job postings and job changes, which Cognism does, so anything downstream that reads it has to change. Either way, measure your match rate on 500 rows before you switch, because that number is the one you cannot recover afterwards.
