Most benchmark pages compare numbers that measure different things. A landing page signup, an ad-platform conversion, a marketing-qualified lead and a sales opportunity are not interchangeable.
This reference keeps the source, cohort, period and definition beside each number. Use it to ask better questions about your own funnel, not to set a universal target.

Key Takeaways
- Define the conversion event before comparing its cost or rate. A signup and a qualified opportunity measure different outcomes.
- The search-ad and landing-page datasets cover multiple industries. They are not B2B SaaS performance targets.
- Survey responses describe what marketers report. They do not establish channel conversion rates or incremental revenue.
Before comparing your funnel
Record the conversion event first. For every channel, write down what counts as a conversion, the source of truth, the date range, spend, and the share that became a qualified opportunity. A low cost per conversion can still be expensive if the conversion is a weak action. A high cost per conversion can be acceptable if it creates qualified opportunities.
Landing-page conversion actions
| Benchmark | Reported value | What it means | Use it carefully |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing-page conversion rate | 6.6% median | A visitor completed the page's defined action. | The cohort covers all industries and mixes actions such as purchases, signups and downloads. It is not a B2B lead benchmark. |

Source: WordStream/LocaliQ's 2026 analysis of 13,474 US search-ad campaigns, running from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. The publisher labels its displayed averages as medians. Its Business Services category is not a B2B SaaS category, and a tracked conversion may be a form, call or another advertiser-defined action. Read the study and definitions.
What B2B content marketers reported
| Survey question | Reported response | What it does not show |
|---|---|---|
| Creating content that prompts a desired action is a top challenge | 40% | A visitor-to-lead conversion rate. |
| Measuring content effectiveness is a top challenge | 33% | Evidence that measurement is absent everywhere. |
| LinkedIn is an effective thought-leadership publishing channel | 76% | Ad CTR, CPM, lead quality or cost per lead. |
| Email newsletters are an effective thought-leadership channel | 54% | Email conversion or revenue. |
| Speaking events/webinars are an effective thought-leadership channel | 52% | Event cost or payback period. |
Source: Content Marketing Institute and MarketingProfs surveyed 1,015 B2B respondents, mostly in North America, from 24 June to 14 August 2025. These are self-reported survey responses. The article does not state a separate respondent base for the thought-leadership channel question. Multiple answers can apply; these percentages are not conversion rates. Read the survey and methodology.
Use a benchmark without fooling yourself
Compare your own numbers by the same event and cohort: same channel, geography, offer, audience, sales cycle and date range. Track cost per qualified opportunity alongside cost per conversion. If the definition differs, call the numbers directional context, not a performance target.
Methodology and limitations
This page curates external sources selected because they disclose a cohort and period. It does not pool their values into one average, and it does not report Frontal client data. Source categories, conversion events and survey questions differ. Recheck this page when a source publisher replaces its study.
