# Inbound speed to lead

> Generated from https://frontal.so/gtm-apis/stack-speed-to-lead
> Every price and limit below was read from the vendor's own pricing page or docs. Hit rates are modeled, and labeled where they appear.

**Tools in this stack:** Apollo API, ZeroBounce, HubSpot API, Smartlead.
**Build effort:** Hours.
**What it costs:** <60s form to first touch, $59 per 1,000 leads.

## What you are building

A webhook-triggered chain that runs synchronously from form submission to sequence enrollment. Every step fails open, validation happens before the CRM write, and routing is decided by enriched firmographics rather than by what the prospect typed.

## Build it above roughly 100 inbound a month, not below 30

Under 30 a month a person who already replies within the hour is faster to set up and better at it. Above 100, routing that depends on someone reading an inbox is where the hours go. Do not build it if your first touch would be generic anyway, because speed only makes the generic arrive faster, or if sales legitimately wants to qualify before anything automated goes out.

## Prerequisites

| Call | What it does |
|---|---|
| `POST https://api.hubapi.com/crm/objects/2026-03/contacts` | Create one contact. Not metered; counts against the per-10-second and daily windows. |
| `POST https://api.hubapi.com/crm/objects/2026-03/contacts/batch/upsert` | Upsert a batch of contacts by id or unique property. The call an enrichment run should make. |
| `POST https://api.hubapi.com/crm/objects/2026-03/contacts/search` | Filter on properties and associations. Has its own limits, stricter than the general ones. |
| `POST https://api.hubapi.com/crm/objects/2026-03/companies/batch/upsert` | Same batch shape on companies. Every core object exposes the identical seven operations. |

## Build it

### 1. Make every step fail open

If an enrichment call times out, the lead still has to reach the CRM. Wrap each call so a failure writes the record with whatever you have rather than aborting the chain. A lead lost to a 500 is worse than a lead with a missing job title, and nothing on an inbound path fails loudly, so you will not notice for weeks.

### 2. Validate before you write, not after

Once a bad address is in the CRM it is in your reporting, your lists and eventually your sending. Validate first and tag the record with the result, so an unknown address lands flagged rather than silently enrolled in a sequence. Inbound is where the worst addresses come from: typos, role addresses and disposable domains handed over for a whitepaper.

### 3. Route from firmographics, not from the form

What someone types into a company-size dropdown is a guess. What enrichment returns for their domain is a fact. Route on enriched headcount and industry and owner assignment stops depending on whether the prospect could be bothered to fill the field in honestly.

### 4. Put a delay in front of the send

Three seconds is technically impressive and slightly unnerving to receive. Two to five minutes keeps you well inside the window that matters and reads as a person who happened to be at their desk. It is a one-line change and it measurably improves reply rate.

## Gotchas

- Silent failure. Nothing on an inbound path throws an error anyone sees, so an enrichment call that started timing out last Tuesday keeps costing you leads.
- Validating after the CRM write, which only records the problem rather than preventing it.
- Routing on form fields, which are a guess, instead of enriched firmographics, which are a fact.
- Instant automated replies in markets where that reads as spam rather than service.
- Running a phone reveal on the inbound path. It is a per-row cost on traffic you have not qualified yet.

## How to verify it works

- Break the enrichment call deliberately and confirm the lead still lands in the CRM with a flag.
- Submit a known typo address and confirm it arrives flagged and is not enrolled in a sequence.
- Check a routed record: the owner should follow enriched headcount and industry, not the form dropdown.
- Measure submit to first touch over a day of real traffic, not a test submission.
- Confirm the delay in front of the send is actually applied, since a retry can bypass it.

## What this costs to run

| Measure | Figure |
|---|---|
| form to first touch | <60s |
| per 1,000 leads | $59 |
| Apollo entry | $49/seat/mo |
| ZeroBounce entry | $39 one-time |
| HubSpot entry | Free tier |
| Smartlead entry | $39/mo |

Rates are the providers' published entry-plan prices. Where a workload is modeled, the hit rates behind it are assumptions, not promises: no provider in this category publishes a match rate you can hold them to. Measure your own on 500 rows before you plan against these numbers.
